have been meaning to post since v-day but as you can see from the previous post, i kind of conked out from tiredness.
oh well same old story!
anyway wanted to post a little about v-day (albeit late, but better than never)
i've always loved valantine's day since secondary school, when v-day was celebrated with much joy and craziness. i still remember come 14 of feb, people will be coming to school with bags of chocolates, sweets, cookies and all. Before assembly we'll be running around to the other classes searching for our friends, delivering chocolates, small handwritten cards etc. And the cheerful atmosphere would continue the whole day. recess time too, will be when we're running over over school looking for people. Classmates, ex-classmates, friends, cca mates, section mates, seniors, juniors, teachers even. I remember how ande sec's student council will sell roses and chocolates etc, and even have a delivery system! this when the time when people will buy roses for their crush and have it delivered to their class by the friendly councillors (anonymously, of course!) i even remember how, in sec 3 or 4, in my neighbour class, all the boys pooled together money to buy roses for all the girls in the class. it was such a nice gesture. which obviously didn't happen in my class where 3/4 are girls hahaha.
back then, v-day was more of a time to celebrate friendship, and thank friends for making our life beautiful :) heh even now, i still keep handfolded roses and plastic flowers from those times. makes me feel happy thinking about it now.
maybe it's because we tend to look back on life through slightly rose-tinted glasses.
well then in jc, it as different. v-day wasn't celebrated with as much aplomb as in sec school, or maybe it's just the anderson (sec) spirit! and then came j2, meh was saying it's the last time we can be doing this again on v-day: writing notes, giving chocolates, baking cookies. well, i do agree! no one ran around giving chocolates to all your classmates anymore. and obviously as we grew older, people will be celebrating v-day with their special halves and not boisterously with a huge bunch of buddies as we did in the past.
but just for that wonderful memories of v-day i had in secondary school, i would still have that slight twinge of joy when feb 14 rolls around. even though it's been awhile since i left school, and the past one year and three months have seen so many changes.
appreciate the people around you and the friendships you have formed and the relationships you have, anyday.
happy friendship day people! <3
& all along, its only what I thought.
