hahahaha kids are so cute! last few days was busy with my church's children camp. my group was the youngest, with the 5 to 7 year olds. and they are just so adorable! okay, maybe not all of them. some of them can get pretty whiny and some of them act like brats and yet some of them are just plain mean. but well, that's only a small minority. for the rest, they are just sweet kids struggling to grow up in a crazy world. okay, that sounds weird too.growing up as the youngest in my family and amongst my cousins, i haven't had much experience taking care of kids, except when i used to visit my mum at her workplace. certainly learnt a lot the past few days.what i have learnt about kids:1: they are a curious lot2: they ask a whole lot of questions3: they have a store of energy that never runs out4: they cry pretty easily5: they forget about everything when they are having fun6: they can get really insane when they are playing7: they can get quite mean to people who are not like them8: don't try to reason with a 5-year-old9: to get your attention, they can do all sorts of crazy stunts, and they do resort to violence once in a while10: they think nothing about hitting, grabbing and scratching you all overand the list goes on..the funniest, though, is the questions they ask:jiejie, how old are you?are you 37 years old?do you have a IC?
are you a boy or a girl? [i'm serious!]
are you married?
what school do you go to?
where do you stay?
do you have a double-decker bed at home? do you have siblings? why do you wear specs?
do you have a boyfriend? why don't you have a boyfriend? what games do you have on your handphone? why do boys have to go army when they are 18? why girls no need to go?
and, they actually believed it when i replied yes to the " are you 37?" question.
they have strange (not to kids, of course) views.
"don't all boys play pokemon?"
"once you grow up you'll have boyfriend."
"i don't want to go army, government send us to die." [future government hater, sounds like a a sing ee in the making.]
oh, and the tears..
one girl cried because someone from her group said, " i don't want to play with you!"
another boy cried because his friend pulled down his pants. [this boy is p5, mind you, not some 5 year old]
and some more cried for reasons unknown.
what happened to " nan zi han, liu xue bu liu lei?"
the food:
they love hot dogs,
hate vegs,
love milo,
love fast food,
love fried food,
adore tidbits.
i wonder how i survived eating when i was a kid, since i don't hate vegs like the other kids.
it's easier to be a kid. they can get happy over the simplest of things, like giving them biscuits and chocolates. they get happy just being able to run around. they can giggle uncontrollably when you just give them a hug.
at the expense of sounding like a pedophile, i like hugging and carrying them. hmm, sounds wrong. haha. but that's the way with being young, they hug each other all the time. some of the kids are really well mannered and sooooo cute!
when i have kids next time, i'm gonna make sure the boys are gentlemen. and i won't hesitate to smack them if they're not well behaved.
this kid was the one child that i thought was absolutely adorable. guesses about the kid's gender?

and the answer is? he is a.. boy! for the whole of the first day i thought he was a girl. he's cute, isn't he?

girls from my group. my sis insists that the middle one looks like her when she was young. she really looks a little like my sis, 12 years ago.

and a photo of my group! those 19 little imps (and more) i've had much fun with for 3 days.
that's all for now, got to go and resume my packing.
& all along, its only what I thought.
